HOW I BECAME “DORFF”
Approximately in 1997 I was in North Carolina hanging with my ex-bf Kevin and his 5 year old son Scotty. We decided to go to the Greensboro County fair. Since I can’t get on most of the adult rides due to their height restrictions Scotty wanted me to go on the Bumble Bee ride with him. It’s a very simple ride, similar to Dumbo at Disney. Kevin lifted Scotty and I into the bumble bee, the ride operator, who was missing a few teeth and fingers closed the door while I explained to Scotty that once the ride started we could make the bee go up if we pulled the bar toward us.
A few minutes later the ride operator came by… here is how the conversation went
RIDE OPERATOR - “Excuse me Ma’am but they are no dorfs aloud on this ride”.
ME -”what the hell is a dorf?”
RIDE OPERATOR –“There are no dorfs aloud on the bumble bee ride.”
ME –“ I don’t recall seeing anything about NO DORFS aloud on the sign.”
RIDE OPERATOR –“My supervisor told me to tell you there are no dorfs allowed on the ride”.
ME –“ KEVIN…. I am getting kicked off the bumble bee ride”
Upon getting out of the bumble bee I checked the sign at the entrance to the ride and there were no restrictions for height, weight, age or ANYTHING about DORFS. We tracked down the supervisor to find out what the hell was going on.
ME - “Why the heck did I get kicked off the bumble bee ride?”
SUPERVISOR –“Ma’am you are an adult and if we let you on the bumble bee ride we need to let ALL the adults on the ride.”
ME –“ Do you see ANY adults lining up for the bumble bee ride??
Kevin and I tore this moron and new ass but he wouldn’t back down but apparently to compensate me he gave me a bunch of FREE ride tickets for the adult rides that I COULD NOT GET ON!!
In 2003, I told this story to some of the bikers at the Vietnam Vets motorcycle club campground. They thought it was hilarious so they said that my “road name” would be DORF.
On March 5, 2005, I performed a comedy show at the same Vietnam Vets campground. After my show I presented with my OWN leather vest with the patch DORFF. I am now an honorary sister of the VNV. My father, “Kato” is a Vietnam Vet so this is a great honor for me to be a part of this club. I have gained some very cool brothers and sisters. I wanted to give a special thanks to brother “Pogo” for getting the vest special made for me.
